The whole city is abuzz once more as it is getting closer and closer to Cookout 2011!

Featuring performances from The Wonggoys, Rescue a Hero, Dance With Me Kris and other topnotch bands from Cebu, Cookout this year promises to be a night of incredible music and camaraderie. The students will also have more tricks up their sleeves with great singing, dancing, and modelling performances from different organizations.

Along with Chloe, Badidi and Paulo Varela, I'll be sure to throw crazy one-liners, zingers, and even crazier fashion (I'll try. hehe) as a main host for this year. Lol.

Me, Chloe Palang and Badidi Labra---Cookout 2011 Hosts. I'm wearing my thrifted leather vest, assorted accessories, shoes from Gold Dot, and jumpsuit from Simon. Props to Dominic Sy and Joel de Silva for the hair and make-up, and Yves for styling. Thank you Dominic for the shots!

Just wanted to quickly let you all know that I'm having such a hoot with my awesome new bipolar-ish Nicki Minaj-ish hair! After the colorist applied the first layer of bleach (to strip the old color and the new black roots) when I had my hair retouched, I kind of didn't mind the results. I thought I'd just try it out for a few days and if it ceases to be amusing, I can always go back and have the red applied. Haha.

The other day I got to test it out finally during our promotional photoshoot for Cookout 2011. Cookout is one of the biggest collegiate events in Cebu and is presented by my alma mater, University of the Philippines-Cebu College. After hosting it in 2007, I'm hosting it again this year so I'm very stoked.:) The revelry happens this August 12 already so if you're in Cebu, please don't miss it! I also want to share with you guys this awesome, awesome music video of "For Your Information", the first track from Bunny's hot new album!

Bunny, an alum from the hit TV show "Pinoy Dream Academy", is set to become the country's newest and hottest singing sensation with her upcoming album. This catchy track was also penned and produced by critically-acclaimed songwriting and producing duo, Jaye Muller and Ben Patton, who has done work with the likes of Nikki Gil and KC Concepcion, among others.

Oh, and this video is directed by one of my main boys, Andrew Singco. Watch as his face gets smashed in with a cake in the video. HO-larious.

I've been a horrible blogger this past weekend. I haven't done much visiting (of other blogs) and much updating because as always, it was intense and there was much to do. Nothing new, right? I promise though that I'll try to do all the catching up this week.

Like I mentioned some posts prior, me and Yves got the chance to collaborate with Topshop for a shoot especially for us, by us, and to execute as we see fit. I've been slowly trying to add more things to my styling portfolio so I was more than stoked for this opportunity. Yves, who is one of the most recognized stylists in our city, gladly relinquished the "seat" to me to do creative direction this time. He himself wishes to "leave" the styling mould to focus more on his work as a designer. I'm sure he will still be more than glad to take styling projects though.:)

This shoot also gave us the chance to reunite with Hannah Bacalla, one of Yves' earliest collaborators for photography and someone we look up to dearly. If you want to check out more of Hannah's awe-inspiring work, you can check out her site here. You'll be exiting with your jaw hanging.

I had other outfit shots lined up but I felt like this went perfectly well with my current mood and weather as of late. While it is raining rhinos and hippos here in Cebu these past few days (cats and dogs=understatement), my increasing agitation over a lot of personal things is coming down in torrents as well. Today, in particular, I had a random urge to just hurl the TV at the wall--I'm not strong or mentally unstable or anything, but just sayin'. Not a sunshiney day at all.

With an event-filled weekend coupled with amazing payday sales, I'm hoping my mood looks up. That, plus a whole lot of fried chicken, South Park, and other great TV treats will do the trick.:)

Mega EIC Sari Yap, celebrity fashion designer Avel Bacudio and top model Raya Mananquil round up the resident panel.

trappings cebu's AZUL collection (show review)

one of my absolute favorite pieces from the show. this has fringes all the way to the knees. jawdropping

Show finale with Trappings Creative Director Mabel Paredes. That custom denim dress looked sensational on her!

As promised, here's my follow up post on Trappings Cebu's AZUL presentation at Formo. I suppose the pictures can speak for themselves but like I mentioned prior, Mabel Paredes just blew me away with such an edgy yet still very wearable and pretty collection. In a competitive industry where glitzy and glittery accessories are more commonplace, Mabel just went in and went down the path less travelled by delivering unique pieces rife with attitude and moxie and truly made something unique to her own label. Inspired by art and denim, the designer's creative influences and knowledge of today's hottest accessories trends came together to translate beautifully down the runway, manifesting in one-of-a-kind bib necklaces, earrings, lariats, and fringe pieces. There was definitely something for everyone in the collection, even if you have more classic or street-smart tastes. It was just one showstopping piece after another that me and my friends kind of found ourselves gasping for air already--which is, of course, an indication that we thoroughly loved the presentation.

The great thing about Trappings is that Mabel creates the pieces herself and will only create one copy of each design (unless of course a style is requested in particular). The price points are very affordable and reasonable as well for such incredible one-off pieces.
