Words seem to elude me when discussing the majesty that is Sinulog.
Held every third Sunday of January, the festival honors and commemorates the Santo Nino and its deep connection to the heritage and history of the people. With its incomparable grandeur, this is one of, if not the most anticipated festival in the country.
The pictures will always be splendid, but one needs to hear the drumbeats and the gongs, or go through the throng of thousands in the streets to be able to totally connect to the experience. To my readers abroad, I hope you will have the opportunity to live it for yourself someday.
But until then, trust me to fill you in. Sinulog week officially starts now, and definitely no mardi gra will ever be complete without the fun parties that go along with it. It's gonna be fantastic. :)
