embellished two-tone gown from Rei Escario, gifted faux croc-finish clutch, Balmain-ish shoes from GoJane
I never really get the chance to wear truly beautiful, embellished, sparkly clothes not just because of preference but because I really don't have much of that to go around with in the first place. A simple dig around my closet reveals option after option of black, gray, and more black with sparse swatches of color in between. Yeah... it's pretty boring in there.
However, a very special invitation to a film fest/meet and greet in honor of Brillante Mendoza, one of the Philippines' most celebrated indie film directors, drove me to pull out all the stops and come out in something more than just the ordinary. After having won Best Director in the 2009 Cannes Film Fest in France, he went on and earned more critical acclaim for his works and for the country in major festivals around the world. Nothing else but something really pretty would do.
Kudos to SM Cinemas for giving recognition to such an inspiring figure in our local film industry. Whether you're a Filipino or not, his movies are worth watching and there's always a great lesson to pick up. Put his movies on your must-watch list today.
Thank you so much to the ever talented Rei Escario for the really pretty confection that I'm wearing, and for celebrated Cebuano director Remton Zuasola for the invite.:) Sure hope to have more events in Cebu of this nature. Truly had a great night.
