What I Wore: Bringin' Dynasty Back
3:24 AMWay before TV's saucy dish of sex, scandal and catfights known the world over as Gossip Girl, there was [drumroll, please] Dynasty.
Unfortunately I wasn't born then to be able to tell the tale, but I have caught a few snippets of this 80's TV icon to understand why people went gaga with all that cheesy drama for 9 years. babes pelting mud and clawing each other's eyes out, money, fame and fortune, more brawls and catfights, and TONS and TONS of shoulder pad action. gotta love it!
Hearing that Norman, the featured designer at the Penthouse last week (see previous post) had a very distinct 80's air about his collection (and since its no longer a crime to be wearing shoulder pads again, really), I decided to ransack my mom's closet for something decidedly Dynasty-inspired.
WEARING
vintage top from Mom
city shorts-G2000
booties-Le Donne
Yeah, I'm sure she wouldn't have jazzed up her omnipresent shoulder-padded duds with cheap bling and city shorts, but you know Alexis Carrington (Joan Collins) partied with incredibly strong shoulders and whack prints. Genius.
The Penthouse also had this incredibly intense lighting (in the corridor) that changes colour every so often, and you KNOW we just wouldn't be able to resist playing with it!
My good friend Yves (please do visit his site if you still haven't! you'd love his daily outfit posts as well.:) http://yvestyle.blogspot.com) also had his moment in the spotlight as well:
I'm gonna make this post uber quick. Came from another installment of the Penthouse Fashion Series last night and basically went home around 4 am.. and egad, its still 9. HAVE to get back to sleep. REALLY!
And oh, thanks for your support (I've thanked you a billion times but I can't thank you enough). 39 followers, wow, finally this blog is going places (i think). Thanks again. XOXO!

ReplyDeleteps: Your Dynasty's personal declination truly exudes a delightful conqueror mood (especially with the mirror's Narcissistic effect) . . .
