MARK FAST, FASTER, FASTEST/A D.I.Y.
4:11 AMI don't know if I shared this enough with you guys, but I have an unbridled fascination for the works of Mark Fast. The Canadian-born, Central St Martins alum is making a lot of headway in the British fashion scene as well as the world all over with his reinvention of knitwear, bringing to mind lattices and cut-outs from biker bodycons late 80's-early 90's, but this time slinkier and ultramodern.
Since I had some time to kill yesterday after doing my usual Sunday chores, I encountered "laddering" techniques on Youtube which reminded me too much of a Fast creation, so I decided to give it a whirl:
Since I had some time to kill yesterday after doing my usual Sunday chores, I encountered "laddering" techniques on Youtube which reminded me too much of a Fast creation, so I decided to give it a whirl:
DIY Mark Fast-inspired tank, The Gap flesh cotton bra
While this absolutely does not have refinement of execution as you would expect from an original (duhr), I am severely pleased with the outcome-considering that it came from a super old brown tank I had lying around. Managing to bring out Fast-ish lattice details from trash-ah, the joys of recycling and spare time! And the kicker is, this is seriously easy. Give it a whirl in YOUR spare time-- there's a lot of instrux from Youtube. It's great for summer.
And while I am still not able to shell out thousands of euros for a Fast original, I'll sit here in my desk, anticipating for such time and happily DIYing wannabe pieces. hehe.
