Unboxing and Weigh-in: July BDJBox
6:52 AM
I didn't think that this blog was ever going to be one of those that posts about topics like "here's what I thought of this lipstick" or "unboxing x face product"-- I mean don't get me wrong, I do read my friend's makeup blogs and reviews with a passion, but I just don't think that I'm personally that knowledgeable or authoritative when it comes to reviewing beauty products. I may not have blogged about beauty in the past, but thing is, I'm very much a junkie to all things make-up, skincare, hair products, and everything in between. So yeah... I think I'll give my two cents worth whenever I can, so yay, more Eden-ish beauty posts in the future!:)
To start with, I'll talk about something super popular these days: subscription boxes. I've been voraciously craving/hoping to try out a subscription box for many months now after stalking my friend Toni's posts (she has a monthly subscription to these things), and finally, after a lot of thinking over if this sh*t is really all its hyped up to be, I signed on for the July 2013 BDJ Box.
I'm glad that my box arrived in good shape and had pleasant surprises here and there. July was also particularly chocked full of stuff so yay, plus points in my book. Here's the items I received from this box:
The July 2013 BDJBox was a heavy mix of assorted beauty products + full-sized items from the Dove Intense Repair/Whitening Line. Started with the right box i think.
MAKE-UP ITEMS
yay make-up additions! :)
Too Cool for School BB Cream (Php 219)-- not really a huuuge fan of BB creams before as they feel like they all come in the same shade (spell GRAY/ASH), but this brand kind of made me a believer. Very easy to mix even though the tone is different from my natural shade and it just leaves a dewy finish. Packing this in my daily make-up kit.
Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop (Php 525) --I really appreciated this inclusion. I know the Revlon Lip Butters are kind of having their moment these days, but this was my first time to try this-- its very moisturizing (hydrating mango, shea and coconut amping moisture up by 156%) and is great for gals that get cracked lips easy like me. Thing is, expect to wear it more as a balm rather than a lipstick as it's quite sheer.
Enchanted Eyeshadow Palette (Php 179) -- This is unfortunately the single biggest letdown in this set. I'm a huge eyeshadow girl (gots my raccoon eyes on the daily mkay?) and I know exactly what I want/need in terms of quality in looking for the right eyeshadow-- this palette is just too chalky, sheer, and barely shows even with tons of primer. Don't get me started.T_T Really just liked the box and packaging but everything else in completely negligible.
Beach Hut Spray Sunblock SPF 75 (Php 399) -- Yay, a full-sized Beach Hut sunblock! I love Beach Hut-- for some reason Boracay always comes to mind because they literally put promo materials everywhere there during summer. Can't wait to use this.
Foot Appeal Mask (Php 279) and SureSlim Voucher (Php 1500) - Intrigued with the peeling foot mask, can't wait to see what SureSlim's "weightloss program" is all about. Have yet to try both.
BIGASS BOX OF DOVE PRODUCTS!:)
Dove, Dove everywhere.
It's apparent that BDJBox locked a special collaboration with Dove for this month. We all know that just about everyone and their mother and grandmother uses Dove on the regular, but I appreciated the fact that everything is full sized. Here's the items that were included:
Dove Damage Therapy Intense Repair Shampoo, 180ml x 2 bottles (Php 106/ea) , and Dove Damage Therapy Intense Repair Conditioner, 180ml x 2 bottles (Php108/ea) -
Dove always has this "we so gentle"thing going on and my experience using their stuff has always been A-OK. "Intense Repair" and "Damage Therapy" is also something I'm super interested in these days as I'm suffering from color-treated hair damage, so yay. Good daily stuff.
Dove Damage Therapy Intense Repair Treatment Mask, 200ml (Php 235) - I can honestly say that this works wonders! Leaving it for 5 minutes gives the hair just incredible moisture. 4 stars!
Dove Whitening Original Anti-Perspirant Deodorant in Roll On (Php 83.50) and Aerosol (Php 170) - More of Dove's signature gentleness for some underarm love haha.
Ultimately, the July 2013 BDJBox fared well upon my weigh-in. Except for the [rather unfortunate] Enchanted Eye Make-up Palette, I liked all the products that I've tried. Nothing groundbreaking with the Dove products, but it seems to me that BDJBox is more about value for money as opposed to actually letting their subscribers try new/artisanal/luxury products. Did I like this box overall? Sure. Would I subscribe to BDJBox again? Why not. There's obviously various pros and cons with these subscription box services, but for Php580, this box gave me my money's worth and more.
Opinions on this box/these products individually? Let me know! xx

That's a lot of beauty and skincare products! :) Wow!

Awesome box! I've been thinking of trying one out myself. You beauty gals are inspiring me. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the July box because most of the items inside are things I would actually use although, like you, I am disappointed by the eyeshadow trio. Only the brown shade shows up on my lids. Too bad since I like neutral eye makeup myself.
ReplyDeletelet your good thoughts come out and play. write away!
