So earlier this week I had to do a voice-over (slash hosting?) for the concert of Secondhand Serenade's John Veseley here in our city. I'm not entirely too sure of his popularity in the United States (where he hails from) or with the rest of the other areas in the world, but what I DO know is that he is a major hit in Asia with songs like "Fall for You" and "Your Call", and that he has also toured with the likes of Hawthorne Heights and All-American Rejects. He should be a bit popular elsewhere then, but I'm not too sure, so let me know.:)

So I had to wear something rather utilitarian, as I'm sure I'm going to do a lot of running and freaking out moments before the show:

sorry for the rather simple silhouette of this outfit... work is work for today loves, and unfortunately there wasn't that much of an opportunity to really go all-out. But then again, I love the 90's pleated pants that have been making quite an appearance in the runways lately. truth be told, they do fit so incredibly well and are flattering, too.



I've had this MNG top for a long time and I was right not to have thrown it away, because as we all know, lace is back in a big way, so I'm just thankful that I saved it. Anyway, as you can see, I was gunning for corporate casual that could go well in the heat, and that wasn't so stuffy or boring. Well, at least I hope it wasn't.:)






as expected, the event would be a huge success, especially with the teens who just absolutely adore the guy and his songs. the event was totally packed to the brim. even my friends would'nt dare miss it:

i've never really seen a jumpsuit-slash-harem combo aside from this one, which made me wonder why its never really been introduced, or has it? i'm not really too sure on this one. i enjoyed wearing it though-definitely comfy and easy to relax in, plus you get a lot of "what the hell is she thinking" stares from sartorial conservatives... which is exactly why one would wear it in the first place. coolness.

fellow style Blogger and close girlfriend Kristine Roa of StyleCebu (http://stylecebu.com) was one of the style experts that I interviewed for the show--girl's looking very chic in a dropwaist LBD, Liz Claiborne shades and mary jane pumps-- but her neck bling stole the show!! just gorgeous.




caught up with top young style afficionados Tatz, Tyra and Jaynard chanelling several trends- denim cutoffs, fly bag and shoes-- relaxed yet unmistakably effortless chic.



Fine Arts student Monica totally caught my eye with this ensemble--definitely on trend with the grunged-up denim, tights, graphic tee, blazer and those hip Promod sneakers. even her hair is in on the trends. one of my top faves of the night.


Judee making her 2nd entry into Chic in The Tropics by channelling her inner sultry beach goddess (she did just come from the beach when this picture was taken! lucky girl) with a simple white shirtdress and strappy wedges--makes you just want to hit the shores then and now and order a daiquiri.

Had a really, really busy day last Saturday. and i mean really with a capital R. in the afternoon i had to emcee a fashion show at a big boutique mall in town (Ayala Center-Cebu)-- the big tenants in the mall were showcasing their summer collections-slash-outfit options for the fresh graduates (March is usually graduation time). That event was topbilled by the models of AD Models Homme et Femme, and again, hosted by yours truly and Patrick Rizarri, a DJ in town as well.

I am still awaiting better photos (I was too busy hosting to snap really good ones), so for now I'm posting the shots from We Will Rock Your Wardrobe, a rock-meets-fashion charity event that I attended right after the first show. Organized by local rock impresarios Harakiri Mosh, the event was topbilled by some of the rock and reggaeton bands in the city, as well as other designers. My good friend Yves' collection served as the finale of the show, becoming the event's highlight.

All in all, its been a really exhausting day, but it's all well worth it. Ran into a lot of friends in fashion, and just had a simply great time. Oh, Earth Hour also happened in our end of the globe--hope you guys also did your part as well.

To friends and fellow bloggers who visit my blog from different countries with snow and autumn and all that, you are seriously lucky to be gifted with 4 seasons every year. You get to have more options in your wardrobe, you have all the chances to sashay your fabulousness around in rich materials like fur and leather, and you can get away scot-free with layering up and playing with textures. Unfortunately we're not THAT lucky-there is room to be fashionable, but we are oft limited with what is possible and sane to wear under the perenially hot weather. However, the tropics is still a great excuse to show skin, but in a tasteful and chic way.

That said, i do play up with my wardrobe a lot and try to get away with whatever i can get. I mostly have blacks and grays only in my closet though, and I try to infuse different colours whenever possible. The tropics is oft stereotyped for floral and floaty, and let's just say I'm the type who deliberately goes against that grain.

I'd like to say that my style is pretty much urban, yet I think i can clean up pretty well if i want to, hehehe. I'm very much a city person and that reflects on what i DO wear-no fuss, no hassles, and rather streamlined. I'm not the dressy girly gal, but don't hate--i'm trying, i'm trying.:)
Today I was out all day--did a spot of shopping with Yves and Au, went to work as ush, then did some clubbing right after. I'm glad my day look translated well into night (with the help of smoky eye make-up and all lol):

Another extremely hot day, another dilemma on what to wear to work. Unfortunately I can't really wear DIY ripped denim shorts or something (as much as I'd like to, hahah), and I absolutely refuse to wear anything remotely long or business casual-ey in this weather. Yes, 36 to 37 degrees Celsius can be quite a bitch, unless you're lounging in your bikini in some beach somewhere. Alas, some of us are not that lucky.

That said, here's what I wore in this blistering heat:

quite short, yes, but they do allow me to get away with this at the office. :) i've had this dress for around two years now and it just amazes me how polka dots can be a perennial trend, even coming back hotter than ever for Spring 2009--i've always loved the turquoise tones, plus the tiering--you can't go wrong.





wearing my favorite booties--Le Donne is one Filipino brand that produces quality and affordable shoes that go a long way. Definitely loving that.

shhhhh... just don't tell my bosses i'm using the booth to go camwhoring, hehe!


i have mentioned in my Blogger profile that I'm a "local radio personality" right? Well, to expand on that, i work as a radio DJ for a fantastic less talk station here in our city. I go from 2pm-8pm mondays-saturdays, talking about everything under the sun... alas, not much fashion though. here is my workstation btw:
