STYLE SPOTTING. Club Vudu
3:22 AMLetting loose (in a good way, of course) at Club Vudu has inadvertently become the therapy of choice of Cebu's most fast-paced and hypertrendy denizens. Shrinks typically don't have much business in these circles, but expect the ton's top partyphiles to dole out some hard earned moolah for the shamelessly fantastic escapist fare that only a night at Vudu can provide. In over 8 years of existence, Vudu has been, is still, and will always be the city's obsession du jour: they haven't grown tired of innovating, and we in turn are still coming to party loyally for them as well.
That being said, I've chosen Club Vudu as the launchpad for my pet project, STYLE SPOTTING. My site, after all, pays homage to those who lead the sartorial pack here in our city. Where else can we spot those who are truly chic in the tropics but in Club Vudu? I'm sure my ceaseless traversing will take me to other fashion hubs here in the South, but for the moment, here are some of those who have been found guilty of being terribly chic in Club Vudu.
Samantha Elise Benitez, student
this stunner-cum-birthday girl of the evening (belated candle cakes day!) cooked up a storm in this custom blazer by local young designer Roni Anthony Yu, basic white tank, Topshop skirt, and tres of-the-moment fetish heels from Zara. sending a message that prim and proper and understated sexy can mix, she definitely was decked out in one of my favorite looks for the evening.
Roni Anthony Yu, young designer
Roni shows us how "geeky chic" is gamely done with this plaid lovin' shirt which he got on a trip to Beijing, white shorts, and stunning cobalt blue accessories (the bow and belt) to finish. Roni's on his way to becoming a local style star with his good eye for design, and he most certainly does not disappoint in this ensemble.
Bea Villegas, student/radio personality
This beautiful multimedia personality proves that she's also got a lot of cards to lay down on the fashion table in this edgy yet sweet kimono-inspired piece from Promod, and heels from Charles and Keith. She says that she's more for ease and comfort, but somehow she successfully proves that in preferring so, style can definitely not be set aside.
Katrina Borromeo, student
Whoever said that gingham checks were passe has not seen the stunning Katrina in this mint vintage skirt she found in one of her bargain haunts. Laying low on the accessories, and keeping the tones refreshingly dark, this is an ensemble that deserves the warmest of accolades.
On Katrina: skirt-vintage, heels- Janilyn
Kristine Gianna Roa, Marketing Specialist/Lifestyle Blogger
How could i forget one of my favorite homegirls! StyleCebu.com's main queen prefers to use chic separates to pull off a classic look that can still be appropriate for some fun after hours. On Kristine: top-Inches(CDO), jeans, heels-CMG, baguette-Louis Vuitton
Jennifer, Interior Design student
The first thing i noticed about her was the Versace shoulder candy she was sporting (Jennifer! can you give that to me? Thank you. hehe.), but other than that, this clean and timeless outfit, coupled with the right choice of accessories, can still most certainly turn heads. Reminiscent of late 80's fare, she appropriately calls her style as "vintage chic".
On Jennifer: top-vintage, leggings, cuff-July, earrings-bought in Spain, bag-Versace (to die for.:))
Jai Vidal
The inimitable Jai has always channeled Beyonce as her favorite style icon. So much so, that she always gets catcalls and has been somewhat known as a local Bey. That said, she gives justice to that title in this shimmering number, trendy heels and that tousled-up, just got out of bed head.
On Jai: minidress-Lory Villareal, heels-Dollhouse
Lory Villareal, designer
Lory Villareal, one of Cebu's top young designers, successfully came to party AND to steal the show in multicolour checks, stacked accessories, and timeless loafers, but upon closer inspection--
he didn't just steal the show, he effing owned it with this piece. Fingerless glove, to order from Viva Villareal
Rockellangelo dela Merced, student, Interior Design
Rockellangelo (or Lekar, as we fondly call her, heheh) can definitely stop anyone in their tracks at any given time with her incomparable flair for mixing and matching current trends with classic staples. She does it everytime she makes a public outing, and does it all too well. She channels socialite/The City reality tv star Olivia Palermo in this chic ensemble.
On Rockell: top and pants-vintage finds, heels-Aldo
Yves Martini Camingue, young designer/fashion writer
My fagulous alter-ego never ceases to please and appease with his quick trendspotting eye and sound advices in anything fashion. Opting out of his usual New York urban wear, he showed his more dapper and debonaire side in this "50's Hamptons gent" get-up. Very Mad Men's Don Draper, if only he lived in this decade.
On Yves: Blazer-vintage, cardigan-Paul Smith, shirt-Bossini, jeans-Levi's, shoes-Rusty Lopez
Judie, call center rep in-training
While most of us choose to don our most subdued hues to pay homage to fall (though we basically don't get it here), trust Judie to go west (California, that is) by donning more climate-appropriate colours and silhouettes. She brings in some eclectic L.A. flavor in this get-up... that, and her Chanel 2.55 that is currently the bag du jour of the Hollywood's IT set definitely seals the deal.
on Judie: dress- bought from Australia, green booties-vintage, bag-Chanel 2.55
Klint Ferre, recent nursing graduate
Klint, first of all, that is one HUGE (and heavy, if i do say so myself) carryall. Whew. With that said, Klint is one of my favorite stylistas in our own little group, simply because he is always so seamless with his choices and is oft unafraid in trying out new trends. And most often than not, like in this case, it works very well.
On Klint:everything vintage, LV carryall
Aoi Gerbabuena, nursing student/freelance model
This statuesque beauty, who more often than not looks like an Alexander Wang muse, opted out of her usual hardcore chic pieces to go for a softer side, still without compromising her love for exquisite tailoring that translate from the upper echelons to the streets.
on Aoi: lace vest-thrifted, white tank-SM,jeans-Lee, oxford booties-Le Donne
Brylle Quirante, young designer
Channelling young Harajuku has always been Brylle's fashion capital of choice. Looking every bit as dapper as any young Japanese fashionizer, Brylle says arigato to summer in seamless and trendy pieces.
On Brylle: shoes- PabDer Uomo, top and skinnies-vintage, vest-custom BrylleQ, accessories-YvesIdentify
