Ah, Detroit's Eastern Market. What better way to kickstart my birthday weekend than for a quick trip to the beloved spot with the fambam? Fresh blooms and pastries, the chance to see the Murals in the Market artworks before their completion, a cornucopia of AMAZING homemade products from Detroit and the Mitten State... Detroit's comeback as a city is just absolutely undeniable, and I believe it's the entrepreneurs who are making this happen. As someone who's only been here a year, I fall more and more in love with the city every day!

Plaid Fun and Kaishi Run

Though last year was first time to ever experience fall, it is absolutely and without a doubt my favorite season. Though I wouldn't trade the memories of old summer days by the beach or island hopping back in the Philippines, I am quickly making new memories filled with apple pickings, walking down country roads lined with trees bearing sunset-colored leaves, and layering. A LOT of layering. As someone still bearing my postpartum paunch, I am extra grateful for fall because of this. Ha.

This year, we're a tad bit luckier as fall isn't as harsh as it was last year - I still had the chance to wear my favorite summer piece, the white shirtdress, as a transitional piece for fall alongside my favorite Kaishi Run kicks for a quick errand downtown.

Awe-Inspiring Spaces: The Belt at The Z | Detroit

Hello, loves! Hope your October grind is going great - I just got back from a much needed, long overdue vacation with my husband and son to Chicago. BEAUTIFUL. That pretty much sums up my description of Chicago. To be perfectly honest, I have not done an out-of-state trip ever since I arrived here in the United States! Heck, I've been to Canada more often than I've been out of Michigan! Now that Dallas is a bit older, hopefully things look up on the traveling front and that we get to drive around way more!

Speaking of beautiful and awe-inspiring spaces, today's installment features one of my most favorite places, nay, alley, in Detroit, the Belt. Let the photos after the jump explain why I love this place so much:

Fall On-Duty Dressing

When you're a mom to a soon-to-be toddler, you're never not on duty. You have to be always on the ready to chase, pull away, and calm down your increasingly hyperactive baby. In my personal life, factor in a small business and online multimedia classes, and every day is a recipe for chaos!

Needless to say, I have not worn six-inchers in quite awhile in favor of trusty, no-fail statement sneakers that lets me do the one million things I need to do sans worrying about a twisted ankle situation. This year, I have fallen back in love with the New Balance Classics in 574 and it is now a staple in my on-duty mommy dressing!

The Big Switch to #TeamApple !

iphone 6s Plus, iphone 6s rose gold, iphone 6s plus rose gold review

I have personally evaded the iPhone bandwagon for the longest time. I mean, if you're like a lot of my friends who refuse to settle for nothing but the newest iPhone release, good for you! Not that there's ever anything wrong with that, I just couldn't roll that way because 1) I was fiercely loyal to Android; and 2) I also really love my HTC One M8, which I acquired last year and is still in perfectly good condition; and 3) I don't have that kind of money to burn, lol. A lot of people think that the iPhone culture has turned into a full-blown cult, and I'm not going to disagree, haha. Not gonna lie, though - the newest release, the iphone 6S Plus, really caught my attention-- and with the increasing demands of work + life, I knew I just had to make the leap. Many thanks to the husband for my newest business tool!

Is Being Too Nice A Bad Thing?

Today, instead of talking about how cute this pajama blazer is (yes it is and it's super comfy, but we'd have to do the OOTD talk another day), I'd like to post this question out into the void to anyone who wants to answer it: is being "too nice" a bad thing?

We all know that saying: "to be great is to be misunderstood". Does that caveat also come for people having too much deference for other people's well-being over their own?

The Tribe: #FashionBA Detroit Blogger Brunch

"Find your tribe. Love them hard" is what that popular Instagram/Tumblr post says. I've had various groups of people I called my "tribe" from the past few years, but they are, of course, thousands of miles away from me, all the way across the Pacific. I started my own blogger family back in the day, and while I still really do love them hard, can't really call them my own.since I'm not there anymore. :( So, what's a girl who moved far, far away from home to do?

Ugh, I missed the schedule of my own Detroit X NYFW post! I mean, when you're close to 30, and a cold kicks you, it kicks you HARD. Needless to say, this is one heck of a catch-up post! birthday thoughts

A Year Short of 30

So... I turned 29 last Sunday. Sincerest apologies for a week-long hiatus and for skipping out on the festive fare here on the blog (big birthday announcement! giveaways! maybe next year when I actually hit 3 decades?) - a terrible cold kicked in exactly the morning after my very low-key birthday dinner, and there I was, spending a week feeling like my body has serious hatred towards me, eating nothing but soup and literally doing nothing but watch Empire (how GOOD is that show, though?). I normally freak out when I'm not on the grind, but it felt good to not think about goals and work for a week.
